J-LO, DRAKE, LADY GAGA, KEVIN DURANT LEND THEIR STARPOWER TO VEGAS NEW YEAR’S WEEKEND
Planet Hollywood headliner Jennifer Lopez added fuel to the Drake relationship rumors when she showed up for his New Year’s Eve show at Hakkasan in Las Vegas. She and the Canadian rapper have been collaborating on a music project, sparking rumors that a romance has been brewing.
He recently showed up for two of her shows in Las Vegas and last week he posted an Instagram photo of them in a snuggling pose on a couch. He has a history of Instagram “romances” so there’s some skepticism that it’s another publicity ploy.
In New York at the Times Square celebration, Caesars Palace headliner Mariah Carey struggled through what the New York Times described as “a performance train wreck” during ABC’s national telecast.
She stopped singing during technical malfunctions and at one point said, “I’m trying to be good sport here.”
The stumbles came after she sang “Auld Lang Syne” on ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.”
She later tweeted “(Stuff) happens. Have a happy and healthy new year everybody! Here’s to making more headlines in 2017.”
Her last comment appeared to be a reference to a year that included her split with billionaire James Packer.
SIGHTINGS
So far we’ve have nothing of the earth-shaking nature of Britney Spears’ short-lived 55-hour marriage here in 2004 over New Years’ weekend. But then, sometimes it takes a couple days for the news to get out. Meantime we had no shortage of celeb sightings from over the weekend:

They are returning to Las Vegas as headliners at Axis Theatre (Planet Hollywood) for a 17-date run in March, April and June.
Sean “Diddy” Combs” and Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant ended up in the same club, taking in T-Pain at Lavo (Palazzo). Combs, in an all-white suit, posed for a photo that included Durant, Jermaine Dupree and Diddy’s girlfriend Cassie, the “Me and You” hitmaker.
Durant also spent some quality time at Marquee (Cosmopolitan).
