DRAKE, DION SHARE VEGAS SPOTLIGHT AT BMA'S

Rap superstar Drake was so impressed with meeting Celine Dion during the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday that he vowed to have her face tattooed on his chest. The introduction of fellow Canadians came backstage at the T-Mobile Arena, where Drake broke Adele’s record for most Billboard awards in one night. He had 13, including Top Artist.

With her 16-year-old son, Rene Charles, looking on, Drake took both of Celine’s hands and bowed and told her, “You’re very iconic.”

“It’s very nice to meet you!” responded Dion.

“I’m a year away from a Celine tat,” said Drake, pointing to the rib area he has in mind. It was a huge night for Dion, as well.

She drew one of the longest ovations of the night after emerging from a stunning cylindrical crystal chandelier and singing “My Heart Will Go On,” the theme song of film blockbuster “Titanic” which is celebrity its 20th anniversary.

She continued to make a fashion statement with her chic short hair and an all-white floor length gown that featured billowing petal-like sleeves.

Drake punctuated his honor-filled night by adding his name to the list of entertainers who performed atop a stage on the Bellagio Fountains. Amid a fireworks display, he performed “Gyalchester,” the nickname for the parish of Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies, known for its beautiful women.

The song’s lyrics include a reference to “a tat on my ribs.”

Times Square tragedy ties Kristi Holden, who starred in the role of Christine in “Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular” at The Venetian for 5½ years, was too close for comfort during last week’s deadly incident in Times Square in New York City.

“I use that crosswalk a lot because I work in the sister building across the street,” said Holden.

She was working on the 27th floor of a skyscraper when a Navy recruit crashed his car below her building after plowing through a crowded sidewalk for three blocks. One person was killed and 22 others were injured.

“We saw the car after it crashed and caught fire. We were all pretty shaken up,” said Holden, in a telephone interview. She posted a photo of where the car came to a stop.

Also near the crash scene was Myron Martin, president of the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. He was at the Crowne Plaza Times Square hotel when the incident unfolded.

The scene and heard The Tupac Shakur film “All Eyez on Me,” which was extensively filmed in Las Vegas, is set for a June 16 release. That would have been the legendary rapper’s 46th birthday. He was fatally shot in Las Vegas in a drive-by shooting Sept. 7, 1996 at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane. He died Sept. 13 at University Medical Center.
